He was always walking so close to you!

“Ugh, Yong Soo, could you please not-“ you spluttered as he captured you suddenly, nearly squeezing you to death within a few seconds of having you in his arms.

You were the modest type, and if there was one thing you hated, it was pda.

Unfortunately for you, your only friend since coming to study abroad in Seoul was Yong Soo, who was the absolute clingiest and cuddliest person you had ever met and seemed to have no boundaries when it came to being either of those things, no matter where you were. You blushed furiously as people began to stare at you, some chuckling, some flashing you a very conspicuous look of disgust and turning away before you could give them one right back.

“Please. Get. Off.” you grunted choppily under your break, staring down at Yong Soo’s head of silky dark brown hair, which looked too comfortably hugged up against your chest in that moment.

It wasn’t as though you didn’t like him… something about the way he seemed to be pretty much infatuated with you was rather endearing. You were pretty sure it wasn’t just a case of Stockholm syndrome… well, fifty percent sure.

Today, after spending all day at school getting hit with paper airplanes with notes inside of them, you finally agreed to go over to Yong Soo’s house to do homework with him. It was in vain, and the homework was just an excuse to lure you into his company, but you agreed because you couldn’t help but think he was really cute when he thought he was being clever.

“Okay, okay, sorry, (Name).” he sighed,  shaking his head, the curl protruding from the rest of his hair bobbing up and down as he did so. “I’ll let go in just a second.”

“Okay.” you sighed, directing your attention to the empty subway tracks down in the pit in front of you. You began to tap your foot impatiently as you glanced at your watch and waited for Yong Soo to release his grip from you. “It’s been way more than a second.” you finally grunted, putting your hands on your hips (below where the other’s arms were situated, of course).

“Did I say a second? My bad, I meant five minutes.” Yong Soo chuckled, feigning nervousness in his giggles as he nuzzled his face into your chest once again, making your face flush red as blood began to pool beneath your cheeks. “Ahhh, I just think you’re so… I don’t know the word for it… amazing?” he admitted, saying the last word in English and pulling away from you without uncoiling his arms. His soft brown eyes were illuminated by the headlights of the subway cart speeding toward the platform, making them look like two polished smoky quartz gems.

He’s really cute. you though to yourself as you brought your hand up to his pink cheek and pinched it tightly, offering him a somewhat devious half-grin in response to what he’d said. He smiled stupidly at that and relaxed against your touch as though you weren’t pinching him hard enough to break the skin.

“You’re alright.” you teased. That was what wiped the smile of his face. He furrowed his brows together and took a deep breath in order to puff out his cheeks like bubbles, forcing you to stop pinching him.

The doors to the subway opened, making your smile genuinely, because you were sure he’d have no choice but to finally stop hugging you in order to jump across the huge gap between the platform and the inside of the cart.

You were really wrong.

Effortlessly, he slithered one of his arms behind your knees and swept you up into his embrace, holding you against his chest as he leapt into the subway cart.

You bit back a scream at the sudden action, your heart racing as you clung to him and sealed your eyelids shut over your (e/c) irises, not opening them until you were sat down in the very back of the cart, unfortunately still being held tightly and still in his lap.

You tried to squirm out of his arms, but they were like a marble statue, trapping you inside of them. With a sigh, you cupped your hands over your bright red face, not daring to remove them to see all of those judging eyes staring at you for making a scene over something as mundane as getting on the subway.

“Heeey, (Name), what’s wrong?” he whined obnoxiously, letting go of your waist in order to tear your hands away from your eyes. You seized the opportunity to roll your way out of his lap, your knees landing on the floor of the cart when you did so. “Ah! Dammit!” he cried, crossing his arms over his chest and puffing his cheeks out once again. You covered your mouth as you laughed at his childish reaction, and your own conspicuous and unnecessary display of stealth as you escape from him.

You stood and dusted off your skirt, pulling up either of your socks back to your knees and walking to the opposite end of the seat Yong Soo was perched upon, sitting down and crossing your legs elegantly, flashing him a smug smile.

Pulling your bag into your lap, you pulled out a box of (f/f) biscuit sticks that you’d been planning to eat after school at home while you studied your Hangul. Innocent enough the action was but Yong Soo’s reaction to it was as shocking as it was outrageous.

Why do you hate me!?” he screeched as he eyed the box of candies. You stopped nibbling on the biscuit halfway through and slowly turned to face him with wide eyes, looking like a kid caught with your hand in the cookie jar.

You were extremely confused.

“H-hate you? Is this because I didn’t want you hugging me in front of everyone?” you asked gingerly, biting your lip after taking the stick of (f/f) Pocky out of your mouth. “No, Yong Soo, I like you… I just wish you’d calm down sometimes…”

You would have been embarrassed at your untimely confession if he’d actually been listening to you, but how could he hear you with steam coming out of his ears?

“POCKY? Where did you even get that?” he scoffed, narrowing his gemstone eyes and baring his teeth at you. “Why would you eat that when you could eat Pepero?”

He looked betrayed and on the verge of tears. You were half way between wanting to laugh at how melodramatic he was being about candy of all things, and half way wanting to chuck the box out of the window to make him happy again. You much preferred his smile over his… whatever he was making… a frown?  A smirk? A sneer? Something in between? It was the tri-state area of lips!

“I-I have a penpal in Kyoto who I’ve been talking to since middle school… she sends me snacks every now and again.” you admitted, hanging your head in shame, though you weren’t sure why you had to be ashamed of having Pocky on your person. Drugs, maybe… but candy? Come on.

Gross, tell her stop burdening of you with such second-rate sugary nonsense or your boyfriend’s gonna get her!” Yong Soo screeched, crawling over to you on his hands and knees and snatching the box out of your hand. He promptly threw the box onto the floor of the subway cart and stomped it with his foot.

Once again, you would have blushed and gotten bashful at the declaration of Yong Soo apparently being your boyfriend now if he wasn’t losing his mind over a box of candy.

“It’s good though?” you stated, though it came out more like a question than you intended it to.

“No, no, Pepero is good. Pocky is just a knock-off of Pepero.” the boy explained, sitting down beside you a little too close for comfort, his thigh squished up against your own as began to dig into his backpack and finally pulled out a box of chocolate and almond Pepero. He looked exasperated as he glanced down at the crushed box of (f/f) Pocky again, pulling a biscuit stick out of the emerald green Pepero box and placing it between your lips before you could protest.

You’d had many flavors of Pocky before, including the counterpart flavor of the Pepero you were being force-fed, and you’d never say it out loud but… they tasted exactly the same, and you couldn’t for the life of you figure out why Yong Soo was so adamant about one being better than the other.

“Like it?” he asked hopefully, inching closer and closer to your face (not that it took that long for him to get close considered he was practically glued to your hip). It’d be dangerous not to say you did, so you nodded apprehensively and were caught off guard by the sudden sigh of relief he emitted.

“I’m glad.” he said somewhat quietly, closing his eyes and smiling sweetly. Your heart skipped a beat at how cute he was when wasn’t being… let’s face it; a little bit crazy. You were even more taken aback when he latched onto the opposite end of the cookie and began chewing at it rapidly, giving you no time to react before his lips met your own.

Instinctively, you pulled away- or at least attempted to. But somehow his arms were around your waist again, squeezing you tightly so you couldn’t escape his love this time.

“It’s one of a kind, right?” Yong Soo asked in a whisper as he pulled away from your kiss. You were dizzy from all the blood in your body pooling in your head and couldn’t feel anything from the neck down. People were staring at you, of course. What had just transpired in the course of four minutes on the subway was soap-opera level stuff and it must have been captivating to the wandering eye. You were just sort of shy and really didn’t want so much attention to be on you.

You tore your gaze away from the spectators and looked into Yong Soo’s eyes again, smiling sheepishly.

“No, but you are.” you said softly, bracing yourself for his expectedly violent next reaction.
